Layla is a new breed of mattress that introduces the use of copper infused memory foam in mattresses layering. Besides this, its other selling point is the fact that it is double sided (you can painlessly unzip and flip it over to sleep on the other side). But is Layla the first-rate mattress as advertised or is it just marketing guff?
In our Layla mattress review below, we uncover everything you need to know and whether it is something worth the investment.

Why trust Our Review?
We have been testing lots of sleep products over the years and we understand what it means to get a good sleep. We also know the nightmares that one may go through with a bad choice of mattress – and we never want anyone to go through that. Our reviews are unbiased and we only put down factual findings. We are also never shy to shame the dregs when we come across such unbearable caveats.
Layla Mattress Structure
The mattress is made up of 4 layers that makes up for its 10 inch density.
Top layer (soft layer) – The upper part consists of 3 inches of copper infused memory foam. The idea of copper usage in mattresses was borrowed from its use in copper bracelets in dealing with joint pain. The principle here is that copper releases antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties that helps in pain relief.
Second Layer – The middle layer is 6 inches thick and is made of convoluted foam. This layer has been structured to help deal with heat buildup and ensure that you have a cool night’s sleep.
Third Layer – The bottom layer which is firm is made up of an inch of copper infused foam. The thin copper foam layer has been used to augment firmness and offer something for anyone looking for a firm mattress. It’s also good in pressure relief.
The Layla mattress cover
Yet another thing that you’ll love with this mattress is its cover. It has a THERMOgel cover which is meant to improve your sleep experience by absorbing sweat. this is something that other mattress brands lack and ought to borrow from Layla. The cover is also removable and you can dry clean it. Layla also recommends that you use a mattress protector.
Motion Transfer & Mattress Sinkage
motion transfer is a very important factor to consider when choosing a mattress. This is simply because if you are sleeping with someone or love to place objects on top, you wouldn’t want any kind of movements. for instance, if you sleep with someone and they turn, you shouldn’t experience any kind of motion isolation.
With the Layla mattress, the two sides have different results. The soft side is so soft and experienced some notable transfer. Its motion transfer on the softer side puts it on average as compared with most other memory foam mattresses. However, the firm side of it gives totally different results. Very impressive motion isolation on the firm side. If you are looking for motion transfer, it’s on the firm side of Layla.
Support & Pain Relief
The support of a mattress an important factor that needs one to be keen before buying. This is especially if you suffer from arthritis or back pain.
As expected, the mattress offers two different support depending on the side you are sleeping on. We found the firm side to offer more support, keeping in mind that it was tested by two people (a side sleeper and a stomach sleeper). Again, this is something that you may have to test it yourself (I guess, that’s what the 120 days trial is for).
This is a mattress that we’d recommend over and over when it comes to pressure relief. With the scientifically proven fact that copper has been working for ages to relieve pain, there’s no doubt that Layla excels here.
Does it Off-Gas?
We noted just a bit of smell while unpacking the mattress. And although it’s very normal for almost all mattresses, it is recommended that anyone with odor sensitivity leave it for a day or so for the smell to dissipate. To add to this, Layla is a CENTI-PUR certified meaning that it has undergone an independent test to test the components used in the mattress manufacture. So you are sure, you aren’t sleeping on a cloud of chemicals.
Nobody loves to sleep on a hot mattress or wake up sweating.
Looking at it from the two sides, there also seems to be a bit of difference in heat retention. The firmer side seems to sleep cooler than the softer side, though the difference is very minimal. It also makes practical sense to reason out that the firmer side loses heat faster due to its thinner layer of memory foam.
Longevity of Layla Mattress
Of course the mattress hasn’t been tested for it’s longevity since it is still new to the market. However, from the structuring, material usage and design, it is a mattress that would beat up to it’s warranty.
Is a foundation needed for Layla mattress
Our Layla was tested on a platform bed, but you’ll still get the same experience regardless of you want to sleep on the floor or using a foundation. So, a foundation isn’t really necessary.
A boxspring is needed if you are using a bed with a metal frame, but slats and platform beds don’t require a boxspring. The mattress also works well on adjustable beds.
